At 7 years old, I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I was determined that someday I was going to become a designer and a college soccer player. My mom kept a journal and would annually document my answer to see if it would ever change. But year after year I'd give her the same response.
Fast forward many years, I'm now graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BFA in Graphic Design and played all four years on the women's soccer team.
Although my athletic career has now come to a close, my career in design has only just begun. My fascination for user-experience, passion for design and need for challenge drove me to pursue my Masters. May of 2018 I graduated from VCU Brandcenter with my Masters of Science in Business/Branding and a concentration in Experience Design.
Currently, I'm living in New York City and working as a designer for Google.
I love the water.
Water to me represents life, movement, energy and happiness. Not to mention the nostalgic memories and endless activities such as: boating, wakeboarding, surfing, swimming, etc... The style and design of my own logo and branding was inspired by the logos of WSL, RVCA, Roxy, Billabong, and Quicksilver's. To make it my own, I incorporated my initials "c" and "b" within the two waves. This logo is a constant reminder to make sure I keep on doing what I love.
In 3 days, I raised over $500 at my lemonade stand. Which then was enough money to buy my first wakeboard. This was just one of my "businesses" that I ran while I was a kid.
I can't say I eat candy very often. But when I do Charleston Chews, Circus Peanuts or Airhead Soft-Filled Bites are my weakness.
Good bye glasses
Because my glasses kept fogging up in soccer, it was time for my 5 yr old self to get contacts. To prove I was ready, everyday for two weeks the doctor had me come to the clinic to practice taking my contacts in and out.
Sophomore year of my college soccer career, I managed to break my (right) arm. As a art major this was not ideal. I either had to drop all of my classes or learn to use my left hand.
